Do you know Dan Kennedy?
If not, you should.
He’s known as “the millionaire maker” for good reason. He helped me make my first (and second) million 9 years ago … and pay off my mortgage 25 years early. Long story short: He’s helped me generate loads of recurring revenue and multiple windfalls since 1998.
And I’m not alone. Dan has helped thousands of entrepreneurs build bigger, richer lives.
So I’m excited to help you put into practice one of the most-overlooked, yet BIGGEST ideas Dan has ever taught, with this month’s Marketing Multipliers Tool.
Here’s the Big Idea: Every working day, invest just a few minutes to do ONE THING to make the phone ring. Every. Day. Without fail.
Now, you may have heard that generating leads every day is a good thing. But what are you doing about it every day?
This month’s tool, The One Thing Scorecard, will help build your business because it …
Makes Your Most-Valuable Marketing
Actions Virtually Automatic
Here’s how. First, let me quote from pages 181-182 of the newly updated 3rd edition of Dan Kennedy’s classic book, No BS Time Management for Entrepreneurs:
One of the most important things to me is a continuous stream of new requests for my services. As long as the demand for “me” exceeds the available supply of “me,” I can demand and get premium fees, choose clients I like and blow off those I don’t ….
For about 30 years, I did not let a day go by that I did not send out a letter or a package, get an article published, do something to keep my books on bookstore shelves, secure a high-profile speaking engagement, or do something else to create and stimulate “deal flow.”
This one single, simple discipline has been worth millions.
That last sentence from Dan contains a word that might scare you, although it shouldn’t if you consider yourself a true entrepreneur. The word is discipline.
Elsewhere in his book, Dan writes, “Self-discipline is the magic power that makes you virtually unstoppable.” And as decorated Navy SEAL, Jocko Willink, says, “Discipline equals freedom.”
Bottom line: Doing what you dislike frees you up to do what you love. But we can’t avoid that nasty word, discipline.
So, let’s tiptoe around discipline with The One Thing Scorecard. It turns Kennedy’s brilliant marketing strategy into a daily activity that’s actually … pleasant. Really.
Here’s How It Works
The One Thing Scorecard is nothing more than a humble 3×5 card … with a few million-dollar differences. Take a look at the one I use every day …
How does it work? Each morning, I look at the list of possible marketing actions to take, 7 days a week, to build my business. I pick one, do it, then check off that day in the list.
Total time invested each day: Only 15-20 minutes. Total impact on my bottom line: HUGE. Two record months in a row since I started using this little tool … and I’m predicting a record year in 2018. So, yeah, it works.
But wait. I can hear what you’re thinking: “Why bother checking things off on a silly 3×5 card?”
I’m glad you asked. There’s an important reason why …
This tool is based on a productivity secret used by one of the richest people alive, Jerry Seinfeld. As told by Gina Trapani on Lifehacker.com:
[Seinfeld] said the way to be a better comic was to create better jokes and the way to create better jokes was to write every day. But his advice was better than that. He had a gem of a leverage technique he used on himself and you can use it to motivate yourself—even when you don’t feel like it. He revealed a unique calendar system he uses to pressure himself to write. Here’s how it works.
He told me to get a big wall calendar that has a whole year on one page and hang it on a prominent wall. The next step was to get a big red magic marker.
He said for each day that I do my task of writing, I get to put a big red X over that day. “After a few days you’ll have a chain. Just keep at it and the chain will grow longer every day. You’ll like seeing that chain, especially when you get a few weeks under your belt. Your only job next is to not break the chain. Don’t break the chain,” he said again for emphasis
In a sense, The One Thing Scorecard is a pocket-sized version of Seinfeld’s wall calendar. Your job is to not break the chain of X marks you make each week. Sure, you can scoff, but Seinfeld is worth $670 MILLION. Are you?
Here’s What To Do Now
Follow the instructions below to create The One Thing Scorecard and put your most-valuable daily marketing task virtually on auto-pilot:
Step 1: On a 3×5 card, write 7 boxes in INK along the top. Refer to my example on page 2.
Step 2: Write at least 3 proven marketing actions in PENCIL on the bottom. Use pencil because these will change as your marketing evolves each week. Again, refer to my example.
Step 3: Block off 15-20 minutes every morning to get your One Thing done.
Step 4: Mark it completed on an X in PENCIL, because you will erase the marks at then of each week and re-use The One Thing Scorecard on Monday.

QUICK TIP!!
One of the most effective ways to make your clients fall in love with you and never consider using another attorney is to start a client VIP club.
I should know. I started my own version of a VIP club approximately fifteen years ago. I call it the Inner Circle club.
I have taken the group to baseball games and bus trips to Atlantic City. I send out a quarterly newsletter to Inner Circle members. We hold exclusive Inner Circle picnics and dinners.
You can determine who gets in your VIP club. Maybe it’s your top referral sources or individuals whose referrals you’d like to get.
You will build lifelong unbreakable relationships with your VIP club members. As a result, your referrals will accelerate like wildfire.
